An unearthly body, a plastic face, personality, or maybe this “something”? What guarantees getting to the top? Who are the best advertising campaigns and catwalks waiting for? If you’ve always dreamed of becoming a model, this post may inspire you. How to become a model?
How to become a model?
Start by finding the right agency.
The agency you sign a contract with should represent models that work around the world. This means that it must cooperate with many foreign agencies. Thanks to this you will be able to travel to New York, Milan or London.
The beginnings are not easy.
Stay strong and don’t give up! Modeling means hundreds of castings where you will meet a lot of people. Only a small percentage of them will hire you for the show or for the session. This usually happens slowly, step by step. Even booking a great job doesn’t open the “golden gate” to the fashion world. Sometimes, it may take years before the modeling career is revolving for good. Take everything calmly, don’t go crazy. Common sense above all.
Don’t give up if you’re plus size!
In recent years, the fashion industry has undergone a spectacular revolution and more and more brands are opening up to ‘Rubens women’. Only in the United States is the plus size market worth 20 billion! Female models appear not only in advertising campaigns, but at shows of the greatest designers. An example is the size 44 – Ashley Graham, whose Instagram is watched by almost 10 million people! Besides, not only she changed the fashion industry – there are many more plus size models: Australian Robyn Lawley, Marquita Pring, who became famous for her participation in the Jean Paul Gaultier show or Candice Huffine – the first female beauty who got to the cult Pirelli calendar. If you feel good in your body and look good in it, you are confident and you love the camera lens of the model plus career is at your fingertips. Agencies are most often looking for girls in sizes 38-46, with a proportional figure, regular facial features, well-groomed hair, hands and complexion, over 170 cm tall.
Legendary models
The fashion world is predictable, but it follows trends. In the 1980s, the “athletic girl” was the perfect beauty. Elle Macpherson, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell earned millions by strolling through fashion shows and taking photo sessions or commercials.
In the mid-90s, the phenomenal goddesses from the pedestal knocked down Kate Moss – a crooked-footed girl, measuring only 168 cm tall. It was she who opened the way for girls who had never even dreamed of modeling before, such as: Kirsten Owen and Stella Tennant. Instead of sex symbols on the catwalks appeared non-sexually impressive boys. And how is today? It seems that the known name has become one of the most important advantages of modeling. We belong to the Kardashian clan – Kendall Jenner, daughter of multimillionaire Mohamed Hadid – Gigi Hadid or Cara Delevingne from the well-known London family.
