how to make mojito

Moijto is one of the most popular alcoholic cocktails. The secret of its taste is the skilful combination of aromatic rum, sour lime juice and brown sugar that balances flavors. You can easily do it yourself. We serve the recipe for mojito, i.e. the iconic long drink.

Mohito – how it started

According to legend, Mojito was created in the middle of the 16th century in Cuba. The creation of his recipe is associated with the figure of a local pirate, Francis Drake. His favorite drink was prepared on the basis of Tafia, which is cheap rum made from sugar cane.

He used to add sugar and lime to the drink. In the nineteenth century, Tafia was replaced by rum and we still drink this version of mojito.

Another theory links the story of a popular drink with Cuban slaves. While working on plantations, they drank a drink called “guarapa”, which was based on the juice flowing from crushed sugar cane.

The first recipes of this cocktail come from the turn of the 1930s and 1940s, but the real fame is due to Angel Martinez, who opened the bar “La Bodeguita del Medio” in 1942.
